Streaming 2014: No Fear, Only Love:

The cross as God’s engagement with the world

October, 9-11

There are powers, belonging to death, that orient our life around fear. These fear-based ways of being in the world are distorting and enslaving. The good news is that God’s power has been demonstrated apart from fear in the cross of Jesus. This power, expressed as selfless love, frees us for true engagement in and with all of God’s creation.

Richard Beck chairs the psychology department at Abilene Christian University. His interest in the psychology of religion combined with his appetite for good theology make Richard one of the liveliest voices in both fields. He is known to many readers from his award winning blog, Experimental Theology, and from his widely acclaimed book, Unclean. Richard will present at this year’s Streaming conference from his latest book, The Slavery of Death (Cascade).

Greg Boyd is the senior pastor for the Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul, MN, as well as an accomplished theologian with several publications to his credit, including the award winning books, Letters from a Skeptic and The Myth of a Christian Nation. Greg models what it means to be a theologian/pastor, bringing the best or theological cholarship to the life and concerns of the church. His writing is simultaneously insightful and pastoral. We are excited to welcome him to Streaming.
